I’ve always been fascinated with the Creative Arts – music, painting, sculpture, and writing.
As a youngster, I joined a singing club in school to meet girls. That part did not work, but the instructor taught me a valuable lesson, saving me from years of embarrassment — I could not carry a tune. Because boys were in high demand, I was given the choice of leaving the club or remaining if I agreed to stand proudly and “mouth” the words. I stayed, bought a second-hand guitar, but was unable to tune it up. I gave up trying to make music. Now, listening to music has become one of my greatest joys; it is an integral part of my daily life.
My mate is a visual artist, my daughter a conceptual artist. Like music, I can appreciate these art forms even though I lack the skill to create them myself.
I tried my hand at wood sculpting, became somewhat proficient and displayed my work at several art exhibits; even sold some pieces. But alas, the practice became tedious and unsatisfying.
Then, in a “eureka” moment, I got an idea for a three-part futuristic, earth-based novel. I was smitten. Words became my palette for creative self-expression.
A new world opened up when I unearthed my imagination. Combined with a technical background, a passion for sailing, fascination with cultures, ecosystems, human survival and a love of dogs, I found my niche. It seemed very natural to gravitate toward the Speculative / Science Fiction genre. In all my endeavors, nothing has given me more satisfaction than the simple daily process of writing a story. It has become both the best and hardest thing I ever tried.
My first book, entitled “Future’s Edge” starts off in the year 2290. It is available now on Amazon CLICK HERE. See the “Welcome“ tab for a brief description.
In order to get a feel for my writing style, I offer a free copy of my short story entitled “The Healer”.
